Real vs. Automatic

While nothing beats real advice from real friends, we are not ignorant regarding the latest tech.

Recommender systems provide automated suggestions, either by asking questions or based on previous user activities. Quite often, such systems are either boring or manipulative.

We believe there must be a better way to do it. A way that combines automated recommendations with real user advice. A way that incorporates the latest great developments in artificial intelligence for the benefit of users. A way that helps people to decide not as lone mavericks in front of their devices, but as part of a group of strong and social human beings.

Combining The Real with The Automatic

YouKnowMeBest is proud to collaborate with the Christian Doppler Labor for Recommender Systems.

We are working together to bring the most advanced and fair recommender systems to online fashion retail.

We aim for helping real friends to give better advice by helping with additional discovery and mediating group decisions.

CD Lab and YKMB Teams Take On The Challenge

Online customers are tired of being manipulated. A huge profiling and manipulation system has emerged from the often well-intentioned attempt to present people with the most relevant articles. Many retailers are aware of this, but they see no alternatives.

Instead of pushing for quick purchases that are returned at staggering rates—with high costs for retailers and the environment—help should be provided for good and stable purchase decisions that customers are satisfied with in the long run.

We want to establish a new approach that helps online retailers to redefine their relationship with customers. Our approach will disclose whenever algorithms are used, providing a safe and trustworthy shopping environment for users. It will employ these algorithms to leverage what really counts:

Real advice from real friends.

Area of Research

YKMB supports Digital Humanism

Digital Humanism aims to describe, analyse, and influence the complex interplay of technology and humankind, envisaging a better society and life in the digitized era.

It is young and it has evolved from an unease about the consequences of a digitized world for human beings into an internationally connected community that aims at developing concepts to provide a positive and constructive response.
